October 20, 2008 - At Ease with Opera
On Monday, October 20 at 7 p.m. the Lyric Opera Guild’s Dick Byrum will discuss the history and times of the historical character of Julius Caesar and music inspired by him in Great Caesar’s Ghost! Julius Caesar in History and Music. The presentation will be held in the Kauffman Foundation (4801 Rockhill Road). The presentation is part of the Guild’s At Ease with Opera series, a program designed to educate and entertain both newcomers to the world of opera and long-time fans.

Gilbert & Sullivan’s swashbuckling tale of duty gone wrong will tickle your funny bone. Audiences young and old will be swept away to the zany port of Penzance where everyone’s favorite “model of a modern major-general” will leave you aching from laughter over the slight miscalculation of a February 29th leap year birthday.
